Greene Towne is excited to be a research partner with the University of Pennsylvania’s Language & Cognition Lab

The Language & Cognition Lab has been working with Phila-area schools and childcare centers, and invited Greene Towne to offer this opportunity to our families. Their research will help provide a greater understanding of children’s cognitive development and create better methods of teaching languages, as well as therapies for children with language disabilities and adults who need to re-learn language after a brain injury. This research allows our families to participate in studies that investigate how children learn and process language, which Greene Towne is also fascinated with!

We’ve held one session so far. Sessions take place here at Greene Towne from 3:15-4pm, in order not to disrupt children’s daytime routines. Their current study focuses on how 5 through 6 year old children learn language. Children play a short 10-15 minute game that helps the researchers understand how they process language. The game is designed to be and children also get a sticker during the game to thank them for participating.

If you would like to participate in the current study or future studies, please complete this form and return it to school. If you have questions, contact Sarah Sweeney-Denham
