Montessori Primary Lead Teacher

Greene Towne Montessori School, located in Center City, Philadelphia, is dedicated to providing a stimulating learning environment for children ages 18 months through 9 years, consistent with the values and principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Greene Towne Montessori School is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Primary Lead Teacher. 

The Primary Lead Teacher will:

  • Plan and deliver high fidelity Montessori instruction to 3-6-year-old students 
  • Provide a nurturing and caring space for students and a well-managed classroom environment
  • Develop lesson plans and maintain daily records of children’s activities and progress
  • Supervise and train the Assistant Teacher (with support from the Montessori Director) and meet with them regularly to discuss classroom work and goals, 
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills for:
    • Regular, proactive communication with families throughout the school year
    • Presenting parent education talks according to GTMS’s parent education series schedule
    • Hosting informational parent coffee events twice a year (Fall & Spring)
    • Writing conference reports and conducting parent teacher conferences twice per year (November & March)
  • Qualifications: Montessori Early Childhood Certification (AMS or AMI),  4-year college degree or higher, five or more years of experience in a Primary Montessori environment preferred. Greene Towne Montessori School is seeking individuals that have a love for children, possess a growth-mindset, are organized self-starters, are a team player and are flexible and sensitive to the needs that arise in the life of an active school. Experience with Transparent Classroom and Google Suite helpful.

Primary All Day Montessori Assistant Teacher (ages 3-6) (Four openings)

Greene Towne Montessori School, located in Center City, Philadelphia, is dedicated to providing a stimulating learning environment for children ages 18 months through 6 years, consistent with the values and principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Fully accredited by the American Montessori Society and the Pa. Greene Towne’s “All-Day Montessori” program was created specifically for students and their families who look for care beyond the typical school day and calendar. The extension of our classroom environment builds a unique community specifically set-up for children who stay at school all day. The All-Day Montessori classroom with fewer transitions during the day gives the children consistency of place, teaching staff and activity with the same Montessori philosophy and teaching methods, and designed to meet the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of children as all our programs. Families have options to enroll for 9 months or 12 months. Children are guided by morning and afternoon teaching teams, with total program hours from 8am-6pm. Teaching teams work from 7:45am-4, or late morning through 6pm.

 Now in its 57th year, Greene Towne has recently moved into a new facility in its Logan Square neighborhood. The three-floor building and expansive roof playdeck features spacious classrooms specifically designed and outfitted for our program.

  • Title: Primary Assistant Teacher: All Day Montessori, 7:45am-3pm, or 11:00am-6:00pm, or 9:00am-5:00pm, September-August. Greene Towne Montessori School is seeking candidates for the position of a Primary (ages 3-6) Assistant Teacher for its All Day Montessori Program. The Primary ADM Assistant will assist the Montessori Lead Teacher in the classroom. Duties include supporting children in their learning, helping to maintain a beautiful Montessori environment, adhering to Department of Human Services Standards, maintenance and upkeep of the classroom, support with cooking, crafts and other projects with the children. The Primary Assistant will help our students to become more independent and capable people. The Primary Assistant will be a member of a 5-person classroom team.
  • Qualifications:  Early Childhood teaching experience required; Montessori experience is helpful. We are seeking individuals that have a love for children, possess a growth-mindset, are organized self-starters and are flexible and sensitive to the needs that arise in the life of an active school.

Montessori Administrative/Auxiliary Assistant, 10:00 am-6:00 pm

The Greene Towne Montessori School Administrative/Auxiliary Assistant is an important role that provides both administrative and classroom support, and also covers the front desk from 4pm-6pm each day. The role provides key experience in the operational systems at the heart of running a school. The Auxiliary Assistant reports to the Head of School, Montessori Director/Dean of Faculty, Administrative Assistants or Coordinator/Lead Teacher as assigned.  This position requires dependability, flexibility, and a broad range of skills, with energetic adaptability to changing needs each day. The Assistant will support administrative staff in the school’s day-to-day operations, including ordering materials, updating records, maintaining systems, material making, laminating, copying, etc., as needed. Administrative/Auxiliary Assistants have the benefit of working with and learning from experienced administrators and teachers across our program, as well as getting to know and interact with all of our students in different roles.

    Greene Towne Montessori School is seeking candidates for the position of a Toddler Assistant Teacher for its All Day Montessori Program. The Toddler All Day Montessori (ADM) Assistant will assist the Montessori Lead Teacher in the classroom. Duties of the Toddler Assistant include helping to maintain a beautiful Montessori Toddler environment, adherence to the Department of Human Services Standards, maintenance and upkeep of the classroom, assisting with diapering and toileting, guiding the children’s learning, preparing classroom materials, leading circle time on occasion, as well as cooking and craft projects.  The Toddler Assistant will help with the toddlers in becoming more independent and capable people.

Movement/Physical Education Teacher (Part time)

Greene Towne Montessori is seeking a qualified physical education/movement teacher to provide classes for toddlers (ages 18 months-three years old), primary students (ages 3-6 years old), and lower elementary students (in first through third grades). The teacher will design and implement a developmentally appropriate sequence of physical education, to be offered to children in one or two sessions per week. Toddler curriculum shall include gross motor development, activities to support refinement of coordination, as well as fun cooperative games. For children ages 3 and up, the curriculum shall include all of the above as well as introduce athletic skills for a variety of sports and games, a strong experience in team building, and developing skills through perseverance and practice.
