Life after Greene Towne: Exmissions Process
Upon completing the Kindergarten year, Greene Towne students go on to attend a wide variety of area schools. During our students’ final year, the penultimate Kindergarten year, we guide their families through the “exmissions” process. Our Exmissions Team, which includes our Head of School, Director of Enrollment, Montessori Director, and Primary Lead Teachers, supports our families as they prepare for a smooth transition to life after Greene Towne, also known as 1st grade!
Beginning with a panel presentation from representatives of local independent and public schools the winter before Kindergarten, the Exmissions Team offers personalized guidance to each family as they begin the process of exploring elementary schools for 1st grade. Once a family has decided where to pursue admission during their Kindergarten year, our Team stewards the process by writing detailed letters of recommendation, submitting required documents, as well as offering advice or answering any questions that arise along the way. Greene Towne’s 55-year history of cultivating close relationships with area schools, along with the depth of experience of our Team, makes it easy for families to find the information which they find most helpful as they consider this next important step in their child’s education.
Schools that receive our children report that they find Greene Towne students to be well prepared both socially and academically, invested in learning, and skilled at building community. These are the qualities and skills we would expect our students to bring forward, as Greene Towners graduate from Kindergarten poised to thrive as they begin their elementary education.
From independent and neighborhood schools; small and large schools; center city and suburban schools; single sex, religious, and secular schools; to a large number of Quaker schools – unique to Philadelphia due to the city’s strong Quaker roots – Greene Towne graduates have many wonderful options for 1st grade.
