EARTH WEEK 

Earth Week is almost here and we’re delighted to welcome ALL FAMILIES on Sunday, April 21 and parent volunteers during the following week days to work with our Primary and Lower El students on the playdeck. Read on for more details including volunteer opportunities for parents of Primary and Lower El students.

In the meantime, bring us your used pint-sized deli containers and lids for a take home planting project. ANY 12-16 ounce deli-style container can work! We welcome containers such as those that hold take out, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, hummus, salsa, etc. Collection bins will be located in the lobby!

ALL FAMILIES: 

Please join us on Sunday, April 21, 10 am-noon, on Greene Towne’s NEW playdeck! 

We have a lot to do! RSVP HERE to join us:

• Mix potting soil with worm castings and compost
• Fill our planters with soil to prepare for planting during the week
• Start seeds for later planting
• Set up bamboo trellises
• Set up our new worm bin

During the week, each class will do gardening activities. Parents are invited to help!

For our take home planting work, please send in at least one clean, pint-sized food container with a lid by Thursday, April 18. These are round containers that you may have from take out, hummus, shredded cheese, ricotta, cottage cheese, etc.

Primary and Lower El activities on our new Playdeck will include:

• Creating a take home lettuce garden using the repurposed pint-sized containers you send in.
• Our perennial favorite, worm sorting!
• Planting more seeds
• Planting herbs and perennials
