Dear Greene Towne Parents,

Welcome to our blog for October! Two months have raced past and what a wonderful two months they’ve been. We are so proud of the achievements we’ve seen our students make so early in the year. If ever there was a question about the benefits of early childhood education, we’d elect our classroom to answer it. From our youngest to our oldest, we are seeing progress being made daily in (and beyond) areas like reading, handwriting, social engagement, fine motor skills, self confidence, math operations, sensorial distinction, care of self… this list could become rather long very quickly.

The class has loved all of the Halloween themed work we’ve had in our classroom this past month. It’s sad to say goodbye to our pumpkins and gourds, but they had a good run! Making a globe out of our largest pumpkin was a real spectacle. Adding gourds to our polishing work turned out to be an awesome combination of Practical Life and Sensorial work, as the class had to use keen focus during polishing, while also feeling all of the bumps and ridges of each gourd as they worked. It was really exciting to be able to incorporate so much Halloween related material into our curriculum as we worked towards the crescendo of the big day! Judging by the stories we heard on Monday, a pandemic Halloween can still be a fruitful holiday. We are so glad that everyone got to celebrate safely!

Moving into November, we have some big days to prepare for. We will be celebrating Diwali and Thanksgiving in the coming weeks – many thanks to the families who have volunteered to send in holiday crafts!  We have also begun classroom observations. If you were unable to join us during our observation this past Monday, we hope you will be able to connect with us on 11/19, from 10:00 – 10:30. Parent/teacher conferences are also approaching, on 11/13 and 11/20. We are so looking forward to getting to virtually sit down with each of you to discuss our observations of your child’s progress so far this year.

We are so proud of each and every one of our students, and of you – the Greene Towne Families that have worked so hard to keep our community safe and healthy when we need that more than ever. Let’s keep this going – there are so many great things in store for us this year, and it is an honor to be part of what we are doing. We hope you enjoy some photos from our October together.

Warmly,

Mr. Patrick and Mrs. Buonadonna
