You will come to know many songs throughout the school year.
A few popular songs we like to sing this time of year include “Five Little Pumpkins”, “Halloween Cat” and “The Itsy Bitsy Spider.”
Here are the lyrics to a new song titled “The Itsy Bitsy Pumpkin”
The itsy bitsy pumpkin rolled down the spooky street
He passed by a spider and a black cat’s furry feet
He bounced through a cornfield with some bales of hay
Then the itsy bitsy pumpkin quickly rolled away
The itsy bitsy pumpkin traveled all alone
He tried so very hard to find his way back home
Along came a friend who helped him along the way
And the itsy bitsy pumpkin was home by end of day
As your children have become acclimated to their new surroundings and routine, they are completely immersed in practical life activities. Practical life work promotes self-care skills and maintaining the environment. These experiences aid in fostering independence and building confidence.
Your children have daily practice with hanging up coats, changing shoes, cleaning spills and putting work away. They are also fully involved in the toilet learning process, the frequent washing of hands and wearing/changing masks.
We did a medicine bag craft in celebration of Indigenous People’s Day. The children have had practice with bead stringing and collage work. These techniques were utilized in the construction of this project.
You may have seen our movement teacher Julian at arrival. On Wednesdays we have movement class with him. He joins us for lively circle before heading out with our classroom for additional movement time outdoors during recess.
