For the past 16 years, Pajama Day has been a much loved and convivial day! Staff and students alike get in on the fun and show off their pajamas, and it’s all thanks to a Kindergarten student named Jane. We recently caught up with Jane ’07 and asked her about Pajama Day.

Do you remember starting Pajama Day? I do, vaguely. I’ve always had a sibling rivalry with my older sister (she’s two years older than I am) and she at the time had started first grade at a new school. One day, she told me about her upcoming pajama day, and I became increasingly jealous of what she told me. I couldn’t believe she could wake up, roll out of bed, and immediately go to school. So that’s how I decided it had to happen at Greene Towne. Sibling rivalry!

Do you remember the note you put in the suggestion box for then-Head of School Helena Grady? I don’t entirely remember this part. I do slightly remember “writing” this note — I’m sure my parents had to spell check it for me. I remember having a meeting with her about it, though, and being very demanding. I was a pushy kid.

Do you remember the pjs you wore? Unfortunately, no. Probably some pink pajamas. It was before my tom-boy phase, when wearing pink was actually acceptable.

What else do you remember about Pajama Day? That it was the best day of the year. Maybe even from my early childhood. I probably peaked in life that day.

Do you still like to hang out in your pjs? Yes, I LOVE spending time in my pajamas — I need to get more fun ones though, it seems like all I own now is sweatpants!

Many thanks to Jane for checking in with us!
