Summer Camp Session 2: Music

Welcome back Parents,

Here are some highlights from session two of summer camp.

Mr. David

Mr. David is a beloved part of our summer program, bringing energy, creativity, and plenty of “silliness,” as he likes to call it! His engaging performances blend art, music, and interactive fun, making each visit a memorable experience for our children.

He kicked off his visit with a special concert for our toddlers. Together, they sang the cheerful song “Hello, Hello, Hi!”—be sure to check out this short video clip (link right below) of Mr. David and our toddlers singing along.

HELLO!

Next, Mr. David teamed up with our primary children to create a collaborative farm-themed art project. As he performed his own unique version of Old MacDonald Had a Farm, he illustrated the story, with the children eagerly helping bring the artwork to life.

To wrap up the fun-filled visit, Mr. David hosted an energetic dance party with music, movement, and lots of smiles!

The Clay Studio

The children explored the energetic artwork of Keith Haring with The Clay Studio. Connecting to our music theme, they selected a template of one of Haring’s iconic dancing figures or his playful barking dog, both known for capturing movement and rhythm.

They carefully placed the template on top of their clay slab, cut away the excess clay around the design, and finished their piece by choosing a vibrant color to paint it. The completed artworks celebrated the connection between music, movement, and visual art, allowing each child to create a bold and expressive masterpiece.

Familiar Faces

Some of our school-year teachers joined our toddlers and primary campers for special circle time activities!

Miss Brittany brought her signature energy to our primary camp class with one of her famous dance parties! She led a lively circle time filled with music, movement, keeping the children smiling and engaged from start to finish.

Miss Liz spent time with our toddlers, leading a fun-filled musical circle featuring her accordion. She showed the children how the instrument works, gave them the opportunity to explore it up close, and delighted everyone by playing some of their favorite circle time songs. Here she is performing her very special rendition of Baby Beluga with a little help from the toddlers.

Soccer Shots

This session, Soccer Shots gave the children the opportunity to build on skills they have been practicing while also learning new techniques. They began by meeting with the coach to review the rules of soccer to instill the importance of teamwork, listening, and good sportsmanship. After warming up with stretches to prepare their bodies for the activities, the children revisited foundational skills such as ball control and dribbling before being introduced to new moves, including the step-over and passing.

The children enthusiastically practiced each skill through fun, engaging drills and games. The primary children mimicked superheroes while running across the room for a warm up while the toddlers practiced the sounds and speed of various animals. Of course their favorite part of the session was scoring goals and celebrating one another.

Looking Ahead

Stay tuned for our next blog post as we kick off Session Three of Summer Camp with the theme Food. Chef Jonah will be visiting along with some special guests for a session full of fun, discovery, and hands-on learning. We can’t wait to share all the exciting moments with you!

Best regards,

Cherise
