Greene Towne was very excited to host Wanjiku F.M. Njoroge, MD to have an intimate discussion about parenting and social justice! Dr. Njoroge tailored the discussion based on the results of the survey we previously sent out to families and shared valuable information regarding development, how children pick up on the cues we may not realize we are giving, and more. The workshop was full of real-world examples of what implicit bias or microaggressions look like, how children may have outside influences, and how to start age appropriate discussions about the observations that children have when they encounter someone different from themselves.

Dr. Njoroge was also a wealth of knowledge about resources available to parents! She shared this article with lots of resources and encouraged reading books with diverse characters.

Be sure to check out a full video of the event below.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Njoroge and to Nahla Khalek and the Greene Towne Parent Association’s Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging committee for this exceptional workshop!
