Hello Parents!
Welcome to spring! We are all so very excited that Spring is here and grateful for the slightly warmer temperatures. Now that we have returned from Spring Break, the children look so much older and taller to us. Just as new life happens in the spring, growth spurts happen in children.
During the month of March, we made Irish soda bread, completed the 1000 Chain, practiced handwriting of numbers and letters, learned new phonograms, received lessons in leaf washing, made playdough, learned about flowering trees (Bradford Pear, Cherry, Magnolia, Dogwood) and much more. The Kindergarteners took a walk to see the outside of the Franklin Institute, including the kinetic sculpture and the Budd BB-1 Pioneer Aircraft. Ms. Mary from the Vine St. branch of the library came to visit our afternoon friends and read 3 stories to us: Second Banana, Bear Snores On, and Baabwaa and Wooliam.
Ms. Sara and I recently discovered that more than a few children do not like to have bowel movements at school. Last week, we talked about going “poo” in the toilet and how our bellies may hurt if we hold it in. We talked about how to wipe our bodies and that we may need to wipe 3 or 4 times (each time getting a fresh bunch of toilet paper) before we are clean enough to pull up our underwear. We also read the book Everyone Poops.
As I write, many of the children have been home for a couple of days for a mandatory classroom quarantine. We are looking forward to being all together again on Monday!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jen and Ms. Sara
