Welcome back Parents!
We did it! The countdown begins for Greene Towne’s 37th Annual Auction. Your children have finally concluded their work on our classroom’s art piece.
You will get a closer look at the work and process next month. Meanwhile, here is another sneak peek!
As inspired by this year’s #1 requested story book, Freight Train by Don Crews, the children collaborated on painting, collage and shaving cream printing to complete the piece.
The auction will take place on Friday, May 12th from 6pm to 10pm. We hope to see you there. Follow this link for more information: GTMS 2023 Auction
Geometric Shape Work
We have been exploring shapes in a variety of ways. We do this through the use of the shape puzzle. shape sorting work, songs, books and stamping with shapes at the easel. The children often use magna-tiles to build objects out of shapes. Most commonly they make “sandwiches” and “ice cream cones” to share with their teachers.
Below is a song about shapes we like to do together at circle. We often accompany this song with shape pieces used as a visual aid, tracing the perimeter of each as we sing the lyrics.
The Shape Song
The square is like a box
The square is like a box
It has four sides their all the same
The square is like a box
The circle is like a ball
The circle is like a ball
Round and round and round it goes
The circle is like a ball
The triangle has three sides
The triangle has three sides
Up the mountain down and back
The triangle has three sides
The rectangle has four sides
The rectangle has four sides
Two are short and two are long
The rectangle has four sides

Thank you all for your fruit and flower donations. We use your produce for cooking, baking projects and self serve snack work. Two recent things added to the snack shelf are blueberry washing and strawberry slicing.
