Before we talk about our lovely new space at 55n. 22nd Street, I would like to kindly invite all parents to attend our open house at our new school on March 11th from 9:00am-11:00am. Please stop in and greet us at our new home. We look forward to seeing you!

It has been a long journey and we are so grateful to be settling into our new home at 55n. 22nd street!

Everyone in Primary ADM has worked tirelessly to create a beautiful environment that students and teachers alike can enjoy. Our new room is full of natural light, space for new materials, and, most importantly, love! We have a separate room where we have lunch together, a full art room, and multiple movement rooms where we have inside and cohort recesses. These movement rooms have materials, such as a trampoline, a balance beam, tumbling mats, and many other materials to improve the children’s Gross Motor Skills. We also have a new bathroom set up! Unlike the last classroom that had only one adult sized toilet, we now have four child sized stalls, yay!

Our nap set up is new as well. During rest we are able to spread out a bit more, which seems to have benefited everyone greatly. Our second year students have their cots in the classroom, while our first year students have their cots in the adjoining room. We are able to cultivate a much more peaceful, spacious, and quiet environment this way with very little disruptions!

Our room has some personalized touches; such as, our new flower arranging table which was painted by Ms. Allison and our small tables that were refurbished by Teacher Bailey.

New Friends!

With moving to a larger space, we have been able to welcome some more friends. We are thrilled to welcome two new students into our community! Liam and Zeynep are two first year friends that have joined our class this month. We are all so happy to have them, and all of the children have enjoyed showing them around our room and making sure they feel comfortable in our community.

Class Pet!

As many of you already know, we have been excited to add a classroom pet to our space! We now have a Leopard Gecko named Mariah Carey. The children have loved this addition to our classroom; they often will spend time outside of her cage and observe Mariah sleeping, walking around her tank, and eating. She has been a wonderful addition to our community that brings a lot of curiosity and excitement to our class.

Our New Schedule

As we are waiting for the play deck at the new building (55n 22nd St.) to be finished, we are still enjoying outside time at 2121 Arch St. This has adjusted our schedule a bit, our current schedule is as follows:

8:00am-10:30am: Children arrive and begin their work cycle.

10:30-10:45: Morning circle and getting ready to go to the play deck!

11:00am-11:35am: Enjoying outside time on the play deck.

12:00pm-12:35pm: Lunch, K’s go to indoor cohort recess.

12:40pm-2:00pm: Rest, at 1:15pm K-time begins, and 2nd years go to cohort recess.

2:00pm-2:45pm: 1st years who are awake go to cohort recess, and the rest of the class begins working again.

2:45pm-3:00pm: Afternoon circle and getting ready to go to the play deck.

3:00pm-4:00pm: Enjoying outside time on the play deck!

4:00pm-6:00pm: Afternoon work cycle.

If you would ever like to pick your child up during our afternoon play deck time, please send us an email so we can make sure they are ready to meet you back at the new school!

Visitors!

We were lucky enough to have Ms. Feldman visit with her pet snake Hoagie! The children were thrilled to meet here and were given the opportunity to ask questions about the snake to Ms. Feldman as well as pet Hoagie.

Thank you all for your continuous support as we have transitioned into this new space and new routine. Without our GTMS community this all would not have been possible!

All the best,

Ms. Amanda, Ms. Maggie, Ms. Allison, Ms. J, Ms. Shawn, Teacher Bailey, and Ms. Ally.
