April was blossoming for our Greene Towne community. Below are highlights from this month. Thank you to the teachers, staff, and parent volunteers for their support off all the following activities!
Earth Week
This annual tradition has all our Greene Towners getting in on the action.
Primary children helped plant seeds, herbs, and perennials on our roof deck garden, and setting up new worm bins.
Toddlers took care of some plants and watched Ms. Erika weed. In May, Ms. Erika will work with the toddlers on a planting project.

Kindergarten and Lower Elementary students also tended to neighborhood street trees. Loosening soil and laying down mulch to help the trees absorb rain water and stay cool in the summer.
Kindergarten
Food Drive Sorting: Kindergartners used their reading skills to identify the donated items for sorting.

Field Trip: Schuylkill Center for Environment Education
Kindergartners examined larvae and tadpoles through a microscope and searched in the pond for frogs and fish. They also learned about local mammals and birds.
Lunch Around the World: Scotland & Italy: This month, Kindergartners learned about Scotland and Italy. Thank you to our hosts, The Walsh (Scotland) and Hopkins (Italy) families, for providing a delicious lunch and for sharing more about their cultures.
Lower Elementary
Our Lower Elementary students were busy showing off their public speaking skills this month.

Lower Elementary Trips: Franklin Institute and Waterworks
Winter Family Social
Thank you to our GPA for hosting the rescheduled Winter Family Social at Franklin Square. It was such a fun morning!
