As you may have heard, we’ve had visitors to our classroom recently. First, came some humble caterpillars. They crawled around their container, ate and grew for about a week, and one-by-one, we found a new chrysalis each day. Eventually, we witnessed them pop out as beautiful butterflies and we released them on the Playdeck.

Our next visitor was a farmer from Quiver farms along with a rooster, a hen, and an incubator full of eggs. He entrusted us with the eggs, and after some waiting, careful watching, and egg-turning, we had eleven baby chicks in our classroom. There was much excitement about naming the new chicks, so children wrote names down during the work cycle, and we chose them at random out of a basket. Then, we all collaborated to create a poster to celebrate.

It’s been an inspiring and powerful year full of big lessons, new experiences, growing friendships, huge changes, and the spring has been no exception! Below are some pictures from our daily work cycle, a Taste of the World: Netherlands, Happy Hair Day, a sculpture walk around the neighborhood, and enjoying fruit bowls on the Playdeck.
