Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce Session 3 of our 2023-2024 After School Enrichment classes, starting the week of January 29. We have some exciting additions to check out below!

Classes are open to 2nd/3rd year Primary, Kindergarten, and Lower Elementary students unless otherwise noted.

The fee for each 8-week session is $200 per student. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and must be accompanied by payment.

You may register through the mygtms.org parent module and select “Programs” or use this link ASE.

We do our best to accommodate each child’s preference, but classes can become oversubscribed. In this case, we start a waiting list. If demand warrants it and the instructor is available, additional classes may be offered.

We’ll notify you of which classes your child will be in and if your child is on the waiting list. Children already at school are accompanied to class by Greene Towne staff. Children coming from home may return to school at 3:00 and we’ll accompany them to the class. For questions, please contact Eileen Doyle.

SESSION 3 CLASS OPTIONS

MONDAYS:

Modern Dance and Creative Movement ~ Kindergarten & Lower El: Come dance! This class is something that everyone can enjoy. The class infuses genres such as ballet, jazz, hip hop and acro, and is geared towards both beginners and children with dance experience. Students will explore moving creatively, build gross motor skills, grow their knowledge of dance and, of course, have fun! Families are invited to an end-of-the-session performance/demonstration to see what we have learned.

TUESDAYS

Group Singing with Settlement Music: Students will explore the world around us through song. The focus will be on musical skills like aural training, tempo, rhythm, and singing as a group through creative play and music-making.

Martial Arts with Martial Postures Studio: Students will begin to learn the underlying foundation of Martial Arts with focus on developing physical skills such as strength, flexibility, coordination, and agility as well as the focus, respect, courtesy, compassion, kindness and drive required of a martial artist. Children have fun while drills and exercises condition their minds and bodies.

WEDNESDAYS

Yoga with Ms. Marissa: Students learn basic yoga poses and have fun making new ones during this child-centered yoga class revolving around mindfulness, breathing exercises, and Yin yoga poses. The class will: Provide opportunities for reflection, patience and insight. Improve physical fitness by improving posture, balance, coordination, and body awareness. Enhance focus, concentration, comprehension and memory.

Puppetry with Ms. Sara ~ Kindergarten & Lower El: Students will work together to create a script by brainstorming characters, settings, themes and plots. Next they will design and create puppets and scenery to bring their story to life! We will practice reading and reciting lines from the script, and rehearse the show together as a group. At the end of our session, we will perform our puppet show!

THURSDAYS

Cooking Around the World: Come cook with Ms. Desiree! Children will cook, bake, and taste foods from a variety of cultures. We will meet in the 2nd floor cooking studio, so get ready to put on your aprons and chef’s hats!

Movement is a wonderful way to develop fine and gross motor skills, self-confidence, and social skills. Lessons are tailored to fit children’s needs so they feel successful and empowered!
