Recently the Kindergarten students were treated to lunch in China! The space at the Arch Street Campus was beautifully transformed with decorations. Take a look at the delicious menu:
Menu
- Bread with dates (wheat flour, sugar, dates, yeast)
- Vegetable lo mein (egg noodles (egg and wheat) chinese cabbage, carrots, celery, broccoli, mushroom, bean sprouts)
- Vegetable fried rice (without soy sauce)
- Fruit (clementines, sliced dragonfruit, ersimmons)
- Sticky rice with red bean (butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, milk , glutinous rice flour, baking powder, red bean paste)
- Yakult drink (see https://www.yakultusa.com/products/ for ingredients list)
- Allergy free portion – plain sticky rice and some stir fry vegetables
The students were treated to a reading from the book Playing With Lanterns where they learned about the tradition of smashing lanterns during the Chinese New Year. The Ks received their own lanterns to smash at the end of lunch!
We were also treated to a beautiful performance of the Erhu, a Chinese instrument with 2 strings, similar to a violin.
Many, many thanks to Hayden, Lily, and San’s families for a wonderful lunch!
