Hello everyone! My name is Diana and I am the new art coordinator for Greene Towne. I’m very excited to start bringing art back into the classrooms and getting to know all of the children!

Art has always been a passion of mine. It was my favorite class in elementary school. I took AP Art in high school, and graduated from Tyler School of Art with a BFA in Fiber Art in 2012. Previously, I was a co teacher in the Primary ADM classroom for nine years. And for the last two of those years, I facilitated individual art projects for the primary program. When an opportunity arose for me to reimagine the art program here at Greene Towne, I jumped at the chance to take this on!

Each month, an artist will be introduced to each primary classroom. There will be a work that is themed to this artist on every art shelf. This work will also incorporate different elements of art such as color, line, shape, and texture. Books about the artist will also be available for circle times.

The kindergarteners will work on an art project once a week that is also inspired by the artist of the month. These projects will go a little further in depth about the artist, and about one element of art. They will also be displayed for the whole school to see and admire.

Lastly, I will be working with the children to create the art for the annual auction. Each class will collaborate on one work to donate to the auction. These pieces will all be inspired by one artist that the children learned about over the school year. It’s always been such a joy to see the children come together to create a beautiful piece and use the skills they learned to bring it to life.

I’m so incredibly honored to be the art teacher for Greene Towne. I believe that art is a great way to not only build up a child’s sense of creativity, but it also builds fine motor skills,  promotes self esteem, and it’s just so much fun! I hope you all enjoy following along our art journey this year!
