Each month we gather to participate in a group activity. This could be a fun art project, cooking project or one of our go-tos: making playdough. Whenever we run a bit low on play dough we seize this opportunity to make it with the children.

We do this at school to give your children  the experience of taking turns, developing social skills, promoting hand and eye coordination and it also builds a sense of community because as a group they are setting something up for the classroom.

This month we made galaxy play dough. Take a peek at this recipe we often use for UNCOOKED PLAYDOUGH.

We have new geometric shape based work in the Art area and Sensorial areas of the classroom. Your children have avid experience with shape sorting work and matching shapes via shape puzzles. Giving your children an alternate insight into shapes, beginning with the triangle, we introduced shape building work through the use of popsicle sticks and shape stamping work at the easel. 

We are fully immersed in winter. During these frigid temperatures our classroom has taken in an Arctic theme. We have been exploring animals from Antarctica and the Arctic Circle such as the Arctic fox, seal, the orca, penguins and polar bears. Some Arctic work he children have been doing includes penguin shape matching, nesting dolls, polar bear scrubbing work and a basket of Arctic animals.
