Hello Everyone!

We have made it through February, and I think it’s safe to say we made it through all of the snow storms. Your children loved all of the Valentine’s Day themed materials that were throughout our classroom. We would like to say a special thank you to all who donated books to our classroom as part of our Toddler Program Valentine’s Day book tradition. Each day, we would sit down with a different set of books from the list and tell the children who it came from. It was heartwarming to see a child’s smile (through their mask) when their friends thanked them. Thank you for a great month, and we hope you enjoy the pictures below from February, as well as a special feature!

Our Amazing Assistants

For our blog this time around, we want to highlight our amazing Assistants because Michelle and I would not be able to do our jobs without them. They love your children so much and truly want what is best for them! See below to learn more information about the rest of our team.

Ms. Jena: Hi grown-ups of my toddler ADM friends! For those of you who do not know, I am also a dance teacher, artist, choreographer, and occasional environmental educator who loves bringing an interdisciplinary approach to my work with your children. They help me grow just as much as I help them and I love uncovering all the things we can discover together each and every day. Getting to sing songs in Spanish with them, read books with them, and watch them explore movement both indoors and outdoors are my favorite parts of my job!

Ms. Jackie: It’s been an informative and rewarding few short months here at Greene Towne Montessori School. I’ve learned so much from my fellow teachers and significantly from each child: they’re witty, clever, strong, and determined. I grew up in a large family with a dozen cousins so I’m familiar with keeping up with children (it also benefits my daily step count). Each school day offers new phrases, songs, and dance poses that make for an enjoyable and smile-filled time.

Ms. Elizabeth: Hi T-ADM parents! Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us at GTMS. Engaging with your child, seeing their Light, and witnessing them being unapologetically exactly who they are is the highlight of my days. One of my favorite things to do with your children is read books to them in expressive and engaging ways. I especially love reading the book I wrote in graduate school called “The Caterpillar That Wanted to See the World.” I love watching them be engaged and then seeing them light up when I tell them that I wrote this book and they can write their own book too!

Ms. Maddie: My family and close friends call me Maddie. I attended Temple University and currently attend West Chester University to earn my teaching certification. I was born and raised in Philadelphia and my favorite team is the Phillies. I love being in the toddler classroom because each day is filled with laughter, a new song, and learning more about each child and their interests. My favorite time of the day is circle and I love reading books from my childhood including Goodnight Moon.

It has been a cold and snowy month, so a lot of time of our recess was spent in the Movement Room.

We tried a new technique for art. We did so by putting small amounts of paint (primary colors) into individual squeeze bottles. The children decided if they wanted to mix the colors or not by using a tool of their choice—nail brush, spoon, or fork.

There was reading, reading, and more reading!

We did puzzles, cleaned our classroom, and more!

So much love was in the air…and tea parties!
