Welcome back Parents!
We explored the planet earth this session and dinosaurs were front and center courtesy of Mad Science and The Academy of Natural Sciences.

The Academy of Natural Sciences presented a “Discovering Dinosaurs” workshop. The scientist, Kaitlyn started off by reading Bones, Bones, Dinosaur Bones by Byron Barton.

The children were then presented with some parts of a variety of dinos. They were asked to guess what the parts were. These included a claw from a therizinosaurus, a horn from a triceratops and a back plate from a stegosaurus. They learned that these three dinosaurs, although armed with large claws, horns and teeth, were actually herbivores.
Here is a little video snippet of the children admiring a cast of a jawbone of a t-rex: T-REX JAW

With Mad Science, they learned that paleontologists know dinosaurs were once heard because they found fossil bones, egg and nest remains, teeth and skin. Acting as paleontologists themselves, the children did a mini dinosaur excavation. They also made there very own dino tooth fossil to take home.
Circle Time!

The toddlers had some special guests from our admin team members Deb, Tia, Eileen, Julie, Sarah and Amanda. They came and had circle time with the toddlers. Some highlights include a birthday celebration with Sarah and a dinosaur hunt with Deb. Big fun!
Art

Toddlers painted bird houses. The houses were sent home along with some bird feed.

The primary children made farm animal plates and islands with Clay Studio. Some islands included rock formations and volcanoes complete with colorful greenery.
Soccer Shots

The children have been reinforcing skills they have learned so far this summer. These include the pull back, control, big kicks and the step over. They begin their session warming up, mimicking animal movements and navigating around traffic cones.
Fun in the Sun

Warm regards,
