Greetings Parents,

Welcome to the blog of the Sistrunk classroom. Here you will find information regarding the happenings in the classroom, upcoming events and photos of your children in action. Each month you will receive a link via email that allows direct access to the blog.

September has come and gone swiftly. Here are some highlights of our first month together.

Harlow’s birthday

We had our very first birthday of the school year.

Happy happy birthday to Harlow. Harlow celebrated her 2nd birthday with us.

Enkutatash

Celebrating diversity is built into our curriculum as a way for us to all become acquainted with different cultures, make connections with each other and build a sense of community within the classroom. Throughout the school year you will see examples of this via language work, art projects and circle time celebrations. This month we celebrated Enkutatash with Quynh. Enkutatash is the Ethiopian New Year which coincides with the start of our school year. Quynh brought in a book titled “Every Month is a New Year” and daisies to share with her classmates. For Enkutatash, daisies are a symbol of peace, hope and love.

Recess

Outdoors the children enjoy some fresh air and spend time exploring the natural elements. They build and refine their gross motor skills and coordination with plenty of exercise using stairs, slides and the climbing apparatus. We spent one rainy day indoors. During days of inclement weather, the children assemble in our movement room. There they have space to run, climb, dance, play ball and take a walk on the treadmill.

A few gentle reminders..

-Friday folders (clear orange folder) can be returned empty each Monday morning.

-Mask wearing is required for our children two years and up. As your child approaches their 2nd birthday, make a practice out of wearing masks at home and or in your travels.

-Please be sure to label everything including each individual diaper, every item of clothing that you send in, outerwear and clothes that your child wears to school.
