Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! This is shaping up to be the “Year of Community” for Greene Towne:
- We are under the same roof for the first time since Greene Towne grew to have two divisions and multiple programs.
- With the “Cozy Plan,” our children and teachers have come together to share spaces at 2121 Arch Street, while we eagerly anticipate the completion of our building project for our new home at 55 N. 22nd Street.
- While the pandemic continues to demand our careful attention, children are back together across classes at recess, our families can come together for class picnics, and parents can come into school for classroom workshops.
The value of simply being in each others’ presence is very clear to me as we begin this school year. There is so much that we give and take from one another when we are together, that infuses our sense of belonging, community, and shared experience.
Our strong community is one of the hallmarks of the Greene Towne experience. Shout outs to Julie Shuster, co-chair of the Greene Towne Parents Association and mom to Primary student Samantha, and Jessica Boonswang, co-chair of the Greene Towne auction and mom to Baron and Beckham, for hosting parent gatherings in these first few weeks of school. Julie’s Family Meetups and Jessica’s new parent happy hour have been wonderful opportunities to reconnect and share in the joys and challenges of transitioning to a new school year.
Here’s to more gathering and community to come! Thanks to all.
