Hello Parents!

March was a fun filled month topped with a delightfully sunny spring break.  We have been talking about the season of Spring and how it is no longer winter.  The weather is getting warmer.  The trees and plants outside are beginning to show new growth and flowers.  We don’t necessarily need to wear our hats and mittens outside on the playdeck anymore.

We planted sunflower seeds and are waiting for them to sprout.  When the plants get taller, the children will bring them home.  We are reading Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert.  It is a wonderful book that helps teach how seeds and bulbs grow into beautiful flowers and plants.

The most talked about and exciting springtime event in our classroom is the hatching of the chicks! Four of our eleven chicken eggs hatched today (4/5).  Some of us witnessed the entire process.  When we arrived at school this morning, there were just small holes in a few of the eggs.  By mid morning, two chicks had emerged.  By 2:30, four in all had hatched.  They continue to peep, peep, peep away.

We are continuing to read Shel Silverstein poems at circle time.  Have your children asked you to read these at home?  Everyone seems to really love poems!

Mr. Donner continues to play guitar every Thursday and it is the highlight of our week.  We love music.  Some favorites of ours are She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain, Baby Beluga, She Don’t Use Jelly (yes, The Flaming Lips!), Down By the Bay, and Aiken Drum.

Our new classmate, Bumble, has been lovingly welcomed by the entire community.  I originally introduced him to you as Kevin, however, he will go by his family nickname of Bumble.

Please send in a seasonally appropriate change of clothing now that the weather is getting warmer.  Thank you so much to all the parents who have worked really hard at finding a mask that has a good fit for their child (one that doesn’t fall down off of the nose).  If you need any help with this, please do ask for suggestions!  Sometimes it is just a game of trial and error.

As always, enjoy our photos!  Thank you all for the wonderful parenting!  Your children are a pleasure and joy to spend our days with.

Ms. Jen and Mr. Donner
