Introducing “The Shared Shelf” – A New Space for Parent Education

Dear Parents and Staff,
We are excited to announce a new initiative: The Shared Shelf!
We aim to make learning accessible, foster connections, and expand our Parent Education Library. Here’s what to expect:
- A dedicated lounge space for parents to access resources in the Lobby of the Arch St Building.
- A growing library collection with parent-donated books.
- Monthly book highlights: a parent volunteer will read and review a book, sharing key insights with the community at parent events, online, and through the school podcast.
How can you help?
- RSVP HERE to attend The Shared Shelf Workshop, Thursday 30th January 6:30 pm. This event aims to explore the different topics and resources parents would like to see available in the library. More details on this event will be provided in early January.
- Volunteer to read and review a book! Email jesscroker@hotmail.com if you would like to get involved!
- Contribute furniture for our new lounge space! We are looking for furniture and décor donations to make the new space cozy and inviting! Bookcases, a lounge, armchairs, coffee tables, side tables, rugs, cushions, faux plants (or real), and decorative items are needed. If you want to donate an item, please email jesscroker@hotmail.com with a photo and dimensions. We will see if it fits in the new space and organize a time to come collect it from you! As a side note, can you let me know if we have any interior designers in the community? We would love some informal advice if you could spare some time.
The first review was presented yesterday at the GPA meeting. Andrew Luedders reviewed Freeing your Child from Anxiety by Tamar E. Chansky. It was an excellent presentation and the review notes will be made available online shortly. The Review for January will be No-Drama Discipline: The Whole-Brain Way to Calm the Chaos and Nurture Your Child’s Developing Mind, by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson.
