Parent Workshop Recap
It was such a pleasure to be able to see you again in person and have you meet each other as parents! Again, welcome to Greene Towne and our Toddler ADM Community! We wanted to give a recap of our time together:
Our Current Focus for the Children
- Getting Familiar with Routines by Using Common Phrases
- “When you eat, you sit.”
- “Hands are not for hitting.”
- “Walking feet.”
- Social-Emotional
- Setting Limits and Redirection
- Name the behavior and the natural consequence.
- If you say it, mean it. If you mean it, do it. Children must know that if you set a limit, that you will follow through on that limit.
- Be clear when setting limits. Short and simple. Too many words will cause your child not to listen.
- Offer two choices: This allows your child to feel a sense of control. Always give the preferred choice second because that is the one your child will remember. If your child refuses to make a choice, then the choice become yours!
- Setting Limits and Redirection
*Wednesday, October 12th: Parent Education Workshop: A Day in the Life of a Child at GTMS with Desiree McNeill and Patrick Sutch at 4:30pm (This was not mentioned during our time together, but feel this is a great workshop to provide more insight on how we support your child at GTMS. If interested, feel free to RSVP to attend in-person or RSVP to attend via Zoom)

- “Polar Bear’s Underwear” by Tupera Tupera
- “I Went Walking” by Sue Machin and Julie Vivas
