Toddler ADM: March 2021

Hello Everyone!

Springtime has arrived!! We are so excited for warmer weather and more time outside. We have been so busy this month, and even in the last two weeks. The children planted seeds in pots and planted daffodil bulbs outside in the courtyard. They also made bird feeders by covering sticks in Crisco and then pouring birdseed on them, and while some children were not interested in having Crisco on their hands, others loved it! They really enjoyed watching the birds snack on their sticks. 

Auction Project: Dinosaur Rap

The children splattered paint onto their canvas while dancing along to their favorite song, “Dinosaur Rap.” They had so much fun dancing and painting, especially with hearing Dinosaur Rap on repeat. You can see how the movement of their dancing in the flow of the paint. Some children wanted to be flown over like pterodactyls as they squeezed their paint onto the canvas below them. Afterward, they used coffee stirrers, spoons, and their hands to mix the paint. The children collaborated in applying white and black paint to watercolor paper to create the black dinosaurs and white borders around them. The dinosaurs are cut out and ready to be glued onto the canvas as the final piece. We are so excited for you to see the finished project, but mostly we are excited about how much the children enjoyed this project. Each day they gather in the library to feel the texture that the layered paint has created. 

Conferences

Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with us! As we mentioned in our Conferences: “make your child an active participant in their environment,” we are always reevaluating our classroom to see where the children can assist, and with how much. This past month we have seen an increased interest in classroom maintenance. The children have been wanting to help take down chairs in the morning, wash dishes, sweep the floor, and scrub the tables and shelves. Toddler ADM Adult Alternative Breaks

It is that time of year when the ADM staff will begin taking their alternative Spring Breaks, which is a week-long alternative vacation outside the School Day Spring Break. Dominique and I will let you know when we are out and when a Teacher Assistant will be out, this way you can talk about it with your child and know what is happening at school. Summer breaks will follow shortly and we will let you know when those are happening as well. Ms. Amanda and Ms. Olivia will be subbing in our classroom throughout April. Ms. Amanda is our ADM Seasonal Sub and Ms. Olivia is our GTMS @Home Coordinator. The children know them both well. Here are the adult breaks for April:

• Ms. Jena: April 5- April 9 (Sub: Ms. Olivia)
• Ms. Elizabeth: April 5-9 (Sub: Ms. Amanda)

• Ms. Michelle: April 19- April 23 (Sub: Ms. Amanda)
