Spring always brings new growth, but the foundations of our classroom remain the same. Many of the new changes are subtle – closer friendships, deepening understanding of the Montessori materials, more peaceful interactions, and a more comfortable and natural flow of daily transitions to name a few.

The weather is changing everyday, but the new arrival of warm days where we can unzip our coats or even leave them on their hooks feel especially free! We celebrated Earth Week by sorting and feeding worms, filling planters, taking care of trees, and planting new plants on the Playdeck.

So many of the children in our classroom were born in the Spring! Every open spot on the walls of our classroom has been taken up by birthday posters to celebrate. Of course, as soon as children turn four, five, or six, an excitement and anticipation for new lessons comes along with it. This spring, we’ve begun to explore a lot of new horizons in writing, reading, math, science, and everything in between. Soon we will see more exciting changes when we watch caterpillars turn into butterflies!
