Sarah Shares: Welcome Summer!

Here we are, shifting to summer mode at Greene Towne! Chalk, bubbles, dirt digging, and water play abound in the sunshine.

After ending the 2019-20 school year completely virtually, it was even more meaningful to hold our year-end traditions (with some adjustments) to close out the 2020-21 school year. 

Our toddlers enjoyed their ice cream socials with their class, with jimmies of course, as part of their recess times last week, each sitting in a chalk circle for proper distancing. On the last day of school, toddlers proudly wore their hand-painted butterfly wings and flew around the Courtyard and Playdeck, symbolizing their transformational growth and readiness for all that’s next!

We celebrated our student leaders, the Class of 2021, with the Kindergarten Recognition Ceremony over Zoom last Friday. While current protocols didn’t allow us to do so in person, our teachers found new and expanded ways to honor the kindergartners. Each Primary classroom held their own K recognition ceremony, involving the whole class and providing an important window into the future for the first and second year Primary students. The virtual format allowed family and friends near and far to join us, with a lovely cacophony of thanks and congratulations at the end of the evening. 

Today, I’d like to celebrate all of you—our Greene Towne families—for your care and commitment to our community. We are proud of all that we have accomplished this school year, and are truly grateful for your partnership that enabled your children and all of us at school to grow and thrive. Thank you.
