Dear Greene Towne community,

Thanks to many in our community for sharing resources and concern over the coronavirus. One of the elements that makes Greene Towne so strong is our unequivocal shared dedication to children, and decision making that is centered on what is best for them. We have approached this unique situation in the same way.

I’m writing to let you know that Greene Towne Montessori School will be closed beginning Monday, March 16th. Our plan is to return to school on Monday, March 30th, though we are aware that plan may need to change.

Though Greene Towne has no COVID-19 related cases of which we are aware, we believe it is our responsibility to the greater community to minimize contact and exposure in this critical time. The Board, senior administration, and I will continue to monitor updates from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Philadelphia Health Department.

We plan to remain open tomorrow, keeping our scheduled parent-teacher conferences with drop in care available for current Primary students, as well as regular hours (8am-6pm) for our Toddler and Primary All Day Montessori program. As for Parent-Teacher conference meetings that are scheduled for next week, lead teachers will contact parents to either keep the scheduled time and meet by phone, or schedule an alternative time with you. The Kindergarten Lunch Around the World event celebrating Vietnam and Ghana will be rescheduled. Over the next two weeks, our cleaning contractors will complete deep cleaning of both buildings. Stay tuned for additional information from your child’s teachers. They will be in touch with you tomorrow with ideas for Montessori activities to do to keep on learning and growing while we are away from school.

I will continue to provide updates and information as needed. We have collected our community communications and resources regarding the COVID-19 virus on this page in the parent portal of our website, and we will add any new updates here as well.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, care, and collaboration in this unsettling time. As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Warmly,

Sarah Sweeney-Denham

Head of School
