Recently, everyone in our classroom is exploring numbers in their own way. The Montessori math curriculum is particularly beautiful in its utilization of concrete objects to depict quantity, sequence, order, and logic. As you enjoy these pictures, notice the sheer breadth of the lessons happening simultaneously in one room – from counting to writing numerals to geometry to multiplication. Also, there are some pictures here that are not “math” in a traditional sense, but these Sensorial, Cultural, and Practical Life lessons echo the math materials in color, appearance, and order. Furthermore, these lessons are designed to include fundamental practices for math like sequencing, one-to-one correspondence, and working from top to bottom.
