Hello Parents!
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedules to attend conferences. Ms.Jena, Ms. Asia, and I were so happy to talk with you about your amazing children.
November was filled with a lot of fun activities. The children were very busy in the Art area of the classroom. Their Turkey craft was so much fun and the leaves you sent in made it extra special.
We made playdough which is always a learning experience for the children.
- The children learned to measure the ingredient that goes into the playdough.
- They feel the texture of the flour mixture before and after water is added. This supports their sensory development.
- They practice understanding boundaries because they can’t touch the mixture after the hot water goes in until the teacher says that it is safe to touch.
- They practice taking turns.
These are just a few examples of what they are learning with a simple activity as making playdough.
“The best instruction is that which uses the least words sufficient for the task.”
― Maria Montessori, Discovery of the Child
One of the children’s favorite songs is “This Little Light of Mine”:
This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I am gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
In the end, we send light from our hearts to anyone that’s absent, as a way of practicing mindfulness.
Enjoy the photos of the children hard at work!
