Welcome back Parents!

It is hard to believe we are embarking on the end of the calendar year.

November is such a fun month in our school year. Right about now your little ones are well immersed in their new environment which isn’t quite so new anymore. Here are some highlights from the month.

Building Community

Relationships are the foundation to healthy social emotional development. As your children make connections with their classmates they feel secure in exploring the environment and with the everyday routine. The multi age group platform which is fundamental to Montessori education, is of great benefit to all students. At any time you can take a glance around the classroom and witness three year olds taking pride in modeling behaviors and demonstrating work to their younger classmates. They build confidence in their role as leaders and share their skills. At the same time younger students look up to them and look forward to developing these same skills. They gain knowledge and are primed to engage in their best work simply by observing others. All of these connections are key components in fostering independence, self-assurance and building solid sense of community within our classroom.

Veggie Soup

There’s nothing like a warm bowl of soup on a brisk Autumn day. The children were hard at work chopping carrots, scrubbing potatoes and cleaning celery.

Here is the recipe we use: VEGGIE SOUP

As with all recipes we share be sure to take a peek at the “Toddler as Sous Chef” section of this recipe for ways you can invite your child to be involved in the process.

Autumn Books

The winter solstice is fast approaching. In the meantime, here are a few autumn themed books to consider.
