Greene Towne Update - Building Closures Through End of School Year

Friday, April 10, 2020

Dear Greene Towne families,

As you may know, yesterday Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf ordered all Pennsylvania schools to be closed for the remainder of the school year. While I’m disappointed that we will not be able to return before June, our plans for Greene Towne Summer Camp and All Day Montessori summer programs continue. We plan to return to campus as soon as we are safely able to, according to city and state directives.

In the meantime, Greene Towne teachers will continue designing and implementing Greene Towne @ Home. Thank you for your feedback—it has been very helpful to us in designing components of the program with the goals of best practices for young children, as well as providing a wide range of resources that can be drawn on as is useful to individual family needs and routines. We are also working on alternative plans to celebrate and honor our graduating K’s, and the moving up of our Toddlers to Primary. Stay tuned for more information.

Bonnie Clark, Erika Goldberg and I have been checking in with families via phone, to connect, hear how our families are doing, and ask for suggestions about how best to support one another through this challenging time. We look forward to speaking with you.

Many thanks to our teachers, our children, and our families for your support and partnership. With safe and healthy wishes to you all,

Sarah Sweeney-Denham

Head of School
