Our Beautiful Human Family Rewind!
There is an old proverb that says, "It takes a village to raise a child." Greene Towne is so fortunate to have a village of parents who put so much work into making an event like Our Beautiful Human Family a success. Many thanks to the Greene Towne Parent Association (GPA) but in particular these parents: Yune Emeritz, Marcela Knipper, Sarah Peoples, Sarah Pierce, Keiran Rump, Jungyoun (Natalie) Shin, Julie Shuster, and Yvonne Yang.

This past Saturday, dozens of Greene Towne families came together to celebrate diversity at Our Beautiful Human Family event. The children created a mural with decorative hand cut-outs, currently on display in the West Campus. All enjoyed hot chocolate and other sweets, and a detailed map exhibit showcased how various cultures drink hot chocolate throughout the world. Following the arts and crafts activity, the children gathered to hear three stories: “All are Welcome” by Alexandra Penfold, “Marisol McDonald Doesn’t Match” by Monica Brown (read in English and Spanish), and “Families Families Families” by Suzanne Lang. The event concluded with a dance party to “We are Family” and individual story time. Overall, Our Beautiful Human Family was a huge success!
To quote Maya Angelou, whose poem "Human Family" was the inspiration for the event name, "We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike." The Diversity Committee is committed to honoring and embracing diversity within Greene Towne and beyond, and to building an inclusive environment for all students and families. We welcome any thoughts or ideas from the Greene Towne community as we continue to prepare our children to serve as strong, compassionate, and welcoming leaders in our increasingly multicultural world.
