Who’s “Special” on the GTMS Faculty/Staff?

You know your classroom teachers very well.  Now I would like to introduce the GTMS Specialists who add to the learning environment of your child’s day.  In the coming weeks, we will highlight more of the faculty and staff at GTMS.

Talia Mason, Movement Teacher.  This is Talia’s first year at GTMS and she works with all the children, Toddler and Primary, during their movement time each week. She is also part of the Primary recess team. Talia is a graduate of Bates College in Maine and focused on French, Dance and Education in her undergraduate studies.

John Broomall, Music Teacher.  John has been an institution at GTMS for over 20 years!  He works with all the Primary children every Wednesday during their music time.  The children explore music through voice and movement as Mr. Broomall exposes them to rhythm, tone and note value.  John holds a Master’s degree and Orff certification from Memphis State University.

Emily Grant, Art Teacher & GTMS Auction Art Coordinator.  Emily is a current and alum GTMS parent and long time GTMS faculty member.  Emily is the art resource for all the classrooms at GTMS; she produces the auction art at East with all the children there and supports the auction art at West.  During students’ K year, they spent a special hour of art time with Ms. Emily in the art studio on the 3rd floor at East.  The Ks focus on a variety of artists and then create works in that style along with exploring various media.  Emily holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in MI.

Joel Marucheck, Toddler Chef.  Chef Joel cooks lunch daily for the 4 Toddler classrooms, 56 lunches or “56 customers” as he likes to say.  Chef Joel joined GTMS last year.  He has spent his career teaching culinary arts and building food businesses.  Chef Joel is also married to the Head of School and they have great dinners!
