Earth Week is almost here and there are lots of ways to participate!
1. Sign up to help Primary classrooms with planting activities (be sure to sign-up on the correct tab): Parents of Toddlers are welcome to help with our Primary students.
2. Bring us your used pint-sized deli containers and lids for a take home planting project. ANY 12-16 ounce deli-style container can work! We welcome containers such as those that hold take out, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, hummus, salsa, etc. Collection bins located at both campuses!
3. Please join us in capping off Greene Towne’s Earth Week activities with a tree planting and park clean-up at Liberty Lands Park in Northern Liberties on Sunday, April 28th, from 10:00-12:00. Join Greene Towne families for some tree planting, weeding, mulching, and all around fun in the dirt! Coffee and a kid snack will be provided, as well as tools and gloves for both kids and adults. Please dress to get dirty/muddy, including wearing rain boots! Kids are encouraged to wear their Greene Towne T-shirts and to bring a refillable water bottle (extra t-shirts and water available at the park).
This is a Rain or Shine event.
Liberty Lands Park, located near 3rd and Poplar in Northern Liberties, is easily accessible on the Market-Frankford line (Spring Garden or Girard Avenue stops) and by SEPTA bus routes 5, 15, 43 and 57. In the spirit of Earth Week, we encourage families to walk, bike, scooter, or SEPTA to the event. Street parking is also available on surrounding streets.
Liberty Lands Park includes a playground and on-site bathroom, and it is surrounded by a number of delicious post-event brunch options. Or, bring a picnic lunch and a blanket to hang out a little longer!
