Happy September! This month has been a whirlwind of meeting new friends and teachers, discovering new classrooms and works, and trying new activities! Since there’s many new faces here at Greene Towne, I would like to introduce myself, and give a brief overview of what the art program is all about!
My name is Ms. Diana and I have been Greene Towne’s art teacher for three years. Art has always been a passion of mine. It was my favorite class in elementary school all the way through high school, and I graduated from Tyler School of Art in 2012. It’s so much fun to introduce artists and art concepts to all of the students at Greene Towne, and I absolutely love seeing how creative they can be!
Every month, we will be learning about a different artist, and making an art project based on the artist’s work. Every student will have access to the same supplies and will be given the same instructions. Once their projects are finished, they will be displayed in the school for everyone to see. Some projects will go home with the students, but some will be kept for an art show for Grandparents and Special Friends Day. I also coordinate the Primary, Kindergarten, and Lower Elementary auction projects, which will be based on artists we learn about in art class. I’m so excited to see all of the mini masterpieces everyone creates this year!
