Everything You Need to Know About Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Every year we invite grandparents and special friends to visit. The children love showing off their work and classroom! Invites are in Friday Folders.

  • Grandparents and Special Friends Day is a Primary only event at both East and West buildings.
  • Parents, please remember this is a day for guests to visit. Every child may not have a visitor, and that’s okay! Having guests in the classroom is already exciting. Having a parent visit can be confusing and/or upsetting.
  • Visitors should be no younger than age 13.

Guests of 1st year Primary attend 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. (Yellow Invitation)

Guests of 2nd & 3rd Year Primary attend 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. (Blue Invitation)

ALL Guests of Kindergarteners should arrive at 1:15 p.m. at EAST for an art show and classroom visit until 2:15 p.m. (Green Invitation)

Quick FAQs:

You probably need to fill out a change of dismissal and don’t know it. Not every child will leave with their guest (we encourage this if you can arrange it) but for the children who are leaving at any time besides their normal dismissal time, we need to have that dismissal in writing. Guests may not leave the building with a child if we don’t have a change in writing, so even if you are picking up your child and the guest, please let your guests know that we cannot allow your child to wait outside with them unless there is a Change of Dismissal on file.

The Change of Dismissal form and the online RSVP are two different things.
Please make sure you rsvp for your guests. Turning in a Change of Dismissal form is NOT an rsvp. While we try to catch these accidents, it is highly likely that we will miss it and can be confusing for a guest who thinks they have been registered.

Make sure we have your guest’s FIRST and LAST names. We are expecting between 50-75 guests for each time slot, and to make sure we get the right people to the right places we have name tags set up for each visitor, including which child they belong to.

Primary ADM: the 10am and 11am visitors can report to the courtyard at West to visit. However, the Kindergarten visitors at 1:15pm should report to GTMS East at 2121 Arch Street FIRST. After that, everyone will walk down to West.

Thank you so much for your help in making this a safe and fun experience for your guests and the children!
