Hello Parents!
Welcome to our April Blog! We are learning all about nature in the Springtime and participating in as much outdoor time as possible. The afternoon friends took a few walks to see the flowering trees of the neighborhood and the tulips at the Swann Memorial Fountain. All of the children are participating in planting seeds and annuals in the garden on the play deck. We wrote our own labels (sometimes with the help of a friend) and chose our own spot to plant in.
Everyone had fun with Ms. Erika and Mrs. Sweeney-Denham on Earth Day. We dug for worms, made a new habitat for the worms, planted lettuce seeds, and filled our planter boxes with soil. The Kindergarten friends also spent some time tree tending in the afternoon. They tilled the soil and mulched around the London Plane Tree at the southwest corner of Arch and 22nd – directly in front of our new location of 2140 Arch St.
We all painted cherry blossoms as well. We love the Cherry trees! Each of us planted radish seeds which are currently sitting in our classroom window wishing they had more sun. Soon we will transfer them to our planter box on the play deck and hope they thrive in their new, sunnier location.
We spent some time making hummus and baking banana bread. These were both a hit to make and fun to eat.
