Springtime in ADM Primary!

From the tiniest little seed to the big city of Philadelphia, April was filled with experiences both humble and huge. There were birthdays, a trip to see the city from a bird’s-eye-view, Easter eggs, Passover, and opportunities to take care of our environment during Earth Week.

A farmer visited us – as did a rooster, hen, and twelve baby chicks still in their eggs. After a week of taking care of them in the incubator, the chicks came out of their shells, dried off, and displayed big personalities over the next five days. Naturally, the children wanted to name them, so they searched diligently through shelves, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and story books for any words they could write down on paper. We placed them all in a basket and randomly selected two at a time (first and last names). This proved to be both educational and hilarious resulting in chicks named Bat Unicorn, Fast Dirtbike, Hug Sweetie, Rose Elephant, and Turkey Gondola.

We were treated to a Chinese lesson at the oval from Emerie’s grandmother, and likewise, our Kindergartners read stories to the ADM toddlers. The Bells have also become a phenomenon in our classroom with many students learning to match notes, distinguish between flat and sharp, and even play a few songs.
