Greetings Parents,

We have reached the end of another fun filled summer together.
Here are some highlights from the past two weeks of camp.
Mr. David

Mr. David returned for another fun filled concert of “drawing, songs and silliness”.
Soccer Shots

The new skill introduced to the primary children called scissors.
Scissors: one foot around the ball and cut to the left with the other foot.
They used this skill when engaged in a game of “sharks and minnows” each trying to keep their ball away from the coach.

The toddlers worked on a technique called the step over. They balanced themselves on one foot while stepping over the ball or cone and then changing direction. They revisited a few other skills that were put into practice this summer including control, changing speed and scoring goals!
Mad Science

Our friend Jumping Jay from Mad Science returned with two workshops this session.
The first presentation was titled Sea Life.
The children talked about the many sea creatures that can be found in the ocean. They examined some shells, starfish and sponges.

They made their very own mini ocean to take home with a vial of sand, water and shells.

The next workshop was titled Stellar Space. The children had a discussion about outer space and the many elements that can be found there such as the planets, the Sun and the Moon. The group imagined they were scientists on the moon’s surface. They put on some goggles and “moon shoes” and collected rocks all around the room.
Tie Dye Pizza Party

Five summers ago, one of our students from the primary ADM classroom was enjoying a slice of pizza on the last day of camp. He then peered around the room and saw everyone wearing their tie dyed shirts. He declared, “Look around everybody! It’s a tie dye pizza party!” Since those words were spoken this has become a summertime tradition here at Greene Towne.

What a delightful way to end our summer season together: pizza, tie dye and smiles all around.

Enjoy the remainder of this beautiful summer!
Well wishes and warm regards,
Cherise
